Put These Bug-Repelling Mason Jars Outside and You Will Not See a Mosquito All Summer

Everyone loves summer, but we all hate the bug infestations that come with it.

Mosquitoes are one of the worst summer problems– the nasty insects are annoying during the hot summer days and nights, and many people are rightfully afraid of their ability to spread viral infections.

Bug sprays do nothing against mosquitoes, and neither do the “anti-mosquito” candles.

Many people are at a loss of how to get rid of the flying insects, but we have a few recipes for natural bug repellents that will make them stay away from your home forever!

Citronella essential oil

Citronella essential oil is a lemon grass extract that can repel mosquitoes and similar flying insects with its powerful smell.

Lemon eucalyptus essential oil

According to studies, this oil can repel mosquitoes and other types of insects as well.

Citrus fruits

According to some experts, citrus fruit peels contain certain compounds that can repel mosquitoes effectively.

Here’s a recipe for homemade mosquito repellent mason jars that will keep the bugs away:

  • 10 drops of citronella oil
  • 10 drops of lemon eucalyptus oil
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lime
  • 4 rosemary sprigs
  • Floating disc candles
  • 2 mason jars

Slice the lemon and lime first, then put them in each of the jars and add the rosemary figs inside. Next, fill 3/4 of the jars with water, then add the essential oils.

Put a candle inside each of the jars and light them up to keep mosquitoes away. Besides acting as a bug repellent, the jars also look great and will be a great addition to your home, backyard or porch.
